The PacDemon Wiki Guidelines - Beta Version

Members of the PacDemon Community should follow these rules when posting to or editing wiki pages.

Topics:

1) The purpose of this Wiki - What material is appropriate/inappropriate to put here.

2) What writing style(s) to use.

3) What types of files to upload.

4) Misc: Use of full names, etc

Purpose

The purpose of the PacDemon Wiki is to create a repository of data about a group of people that shall be called the PacDemon Community.

All information in this site should be something that members of the community have shared. This includes living arrangements, cultural experiences, inside jokes, etc. In general, this wiki should not resemble the popular Wikipedia (http://www.wikipedia.org) site (except in appearance). Any topics that are too broad (such as books, movies, bands, historical events) should not be cataloged here. If these topics are important to understanding a PacDemon Wiki entry, please use an external link to refer to Wikipedia, Google, or some other website dedicated to that topic.

Writing Style

Most entries should be written in the third person. Since this is a community effort, having several people writing in the first person would be very confusing. If it is necessary to use first person, please put that part in italics or use a blockquote. Also, be sure to identify who is speaking and provide the appropriate link to your personal information page.

For other writing elements, please use proper English with punctuation and capitalization. l337 speak (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leet_speak) is not welcome.

Uploading Files

The following rules apply to file uploads:

  • No copyrighted material should be stored on the PacDemon Wiki without explicit perimission.
  • No extremely large files without some sort of approval (something over 5 MB is considered extremely large for a webpage). For approval, you know who to contact.
  • Photos should be properly cropped and sized for easy viewing. PNG and JPG files are preferred. Absolutely no BMP (bitmap) files. TIF files are OK but a PNG or JPG thumbnail should also be included.
  • Files should have appropriate and intuitive names. Examples: summer_2005_002.jpg, kalamazoo_house.jpg, matt_drunk_again.jpg

Misc

It is recommended that full names NOT be entered into this Wiki. Some people are very sensitive about their privacy and they would prefer that their internet handles or first names be used when referring to them.
